Dan Ritchie in the Second World War
Dan and his good friend Max Last had an idea that they would enlist in the Canadian Air Force because they liked airplanes. They signed up at the recruitment centre and were called in to write the tests. Dan passed but unfortunately Max did not. Dan stated to his commander that he would not show up unless his friend came with him. Max had to be re-tested and this time he passed. Dan got his wings but was prevented from serving overseas when he developed rheumatic fever. He helped to train the pilots. Max remained Dan's good friend until Max's death in 1995.
